The Italian Reining Horse Association (IRHA) announces a record-breaking event for the 2007 Reining season. IRHA President, Roberto Cuoghi, and Show Manager, Giancarlo Doardo, are proud to announce that this aged event, for 4-, 5- and 6-year-old horses, is already a huge success for the European reining horse industry.

Thanks to joint efforts by the Italian Reining Horse Association and the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA), the IRHA Derby has become one of the major Reining events in Europe. The IRHA Derby brings the sport of Reining back to the arena of the prestigious fair of Reggio Emilia during the ‘American Horse Saloon Fair,’ scheduled from May 14 - 20 in Reggio Emilia, Italy. The NRHA approved event is handled by the organizing committee, Team Srl.

In 2006, the IRHA Derby earned an important distinction by breaking into the top 25 NRHA approved events in the world for its large payouts. Now, for the first time in IRHA history, the added money at the 2007 IRHA Derby exceeds the incredible amount of $125,000 (US). With an estimated purse of $180,000 (US), the 2007 IRHA Derby could become one of the top ten NRHA approved shows in the world, based on added money.

In less then two weeks, the best reiners from ten different countries will come to Reggio Emilia to compete in the six divisions offered in this special event. One highlight at the IRHA Derby will be the CRIO a qualifier for the 2007 FEI World Reining Masters Finals. As well as the $180,000 purse, the show management reports even more record breaking numbers. At this time, there are 1,000 stalls booked for the whole event and for the first time in IRHA history, 260 horses are entered in the Derby.
